SCHOUTEN SIGNS FOR SETON TUNING YAMAHA
Phil Seton is delighted to announce the signing of Dutch star Raymond Schouten ahead of Round 10 of the 2012 MCE British Superbike Championship, to be held at Assen this coming weekend, 21-23 September.
Raymond will contest the debut round of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship taking place on Dutch soil onboard the Seton Tuning Yamaha YZF-R6.
The 27 year old from Waardhuizan hails from one of the major racing families in Holland and brings a wealth of experience to Seton Tuning Yamaha. Having previously raced at MotoGP level in the 125cc class for Molenaar in the 2004 & 2005 seasons, Raymond subsequently took the Dutch Superstock 600 title in 2007, before scooping the 2010 Dutch Supersport title with ten poles and ten wins during his triumphant season. Raymond is currently contesting the Dutch Superbike Championship and World Endurance series (Superstock) with DTC Pirelli Yamaha Racing and Team DG Sport Herock.
Phil Seton, Team Owner: “We have been speaking with Raymond for some time about the prospect of him racing for Seton Tuning Yamaha, and with Assen as the next round this is the ideal time for him to come onboard with the team. We are sure that he is capable of getting some good results for the team. Raymond is a very experienced and talented rider and the whole team is excited at the opportunity to be working with him.”
Raymond Schouten: “I am very happy Phil contacted me! I really wanted to go back to the 600 bike, which is the best for my riding style. I have been racing a superbike this year but missed the first five races because I had a bad leg injury sustained just before Xmas. Now I’m getting on speed again and I have this chance. I know this is a very hard championship but I have been watching the races for the last 3 years and my dream is to ride there and battle with these good riders. Now Phil has given me this chance, it won’t be easy but I know Phil has a good bike, and I know Assen very well. I hope we have a good weekend and will look to come back for a strong round at Brands Hatch for the last race, and also my goal is to ride for the team in 2013.”
