DOUBLE TOP TEN FOR BUCHAN AT CADWELL PARK
Seton Tuning Yamaha’s Danny Buchan leapt the infamous Cadwell Park mountain to a brace of top ten finishes, as the Lincolnshire circuit played host to round 8 of the 2013 Motorpoint British Supersport Championship over the August Bank Holiday weekend (24-26). With just three riders per grid row due to narrowness of the 2.15 mile scenic circuit, Danny faced a tall order in the opening 12-lap Sprint race on Sunday afternoon, qualifying his Colchester-based Seton Tuning Yamaha YZF-R6 in 15th on the back of row 5. A strong start through the opening left-right combination of Coppice and Charlies elevated Danny through the pack and up to 11th at the close of the opening lap. Locking horns with Smart, Irwin and Brown, Danny would capitalise as a host of riders fell victim to the demanding Cadwell circuit. Championship leader, Seeley was the first to go at Mansfield on lap 5 in what would become a war of attrition as just 16 of 24 starters would see the flag. Seeley was followed three laps later by Irwin at the same corner. Danny took full advantage powering through to seventh at the exit of the corner from eleventh - a position he would hold until a red flag incident halted the race on the penultimate lap. Danny posted what would be his fastest lap time of the weekend on lap 9 (1:30.286s), to move forward to 10th on the grid for the 16-lap Main Event. Looking to capitalise upon his strong first outing of the weekend, Danny was full of confidence ahead of the Main Event on Monday afternoon in front of a huge Cadwell Park crowd bathed in glorious sunshine. However, a slight error on the opening lap as riders jostled for position saw Danny drop back to 15th. With a spirited ride, the tall Essex-based rider pushed forward to run inside of the top ten on lap 6. Bearing down upon Brown, Danny looked to have made ninth his own with a pass on the Yamaha rider on lap 7. Head down, Danny looked to make the break for the line over the second half of the race, maintaining a solid half second gap behind. Brown fought back on the final lap, pipping Danny to 9th by just two tenths of a second on the drag to the line out of the final corner. Danny secured his second top ten finish of the weekend, and 18th in the Championship, maintaining the 100% point-scoring record for the Colchester based team in the 2013 season.
Pirelli National Superstock 600 competitor, James Mutton continued his education of UK race circuits at Cadwell Park over the Bank Holiday weekend, with another solid and mature performance. Qualifying in 22nd, the front of the pack looked a mile away with just three riders per row. As the field flowed through the picturesque circuit for the opening laps, the young Australian rider became caught in traffic on the narrow circuit, dropping back to 31st. However, James was undeterred and posted a strong mature ride over the remaining laps to bring his Seton Tuning Yamaha home in 22nd to maintain his qualifying position. Donington Park will play host to round 9 over the weekend of 6-8 September. |

Phil Seton, Team Principal: “Another good, strong weekend from both Danny and James. Cadwell is a very difficult circuit to learn and to go fast at, so for Danny to show that kind of progression and to get two top ten finishes is excellent. His confidence is coming back and his lap times are getting closer to the leading group. Danny's fastest lap time of the weekend was only a tenth away from the fastest lap my Supersport has ever done at Cadwell, so excellent progress in such a short space of time. James once again rode professionally this weekend. Cadwell is tough and he was unlucky to get duffed up on the opening lap and pushed off the track. James did very well to come back to reclaim his starting position.
